Kalamata olives come from the famous Kalamata region of Greece. They are plump, fleshy olives that are full in flavor. They have a natural blackish-brown color and a slightly softer texture when they ripen on the tree.

The colour of Kalamata olives is not uniform due to the natural process, but depends on the side of the tree they are on and the exposure to the sun. Those that are more exposed to the sun have a darker colour.

They are offered whole, pitted or even halved. They are eaten as meze, finger foods and appetizers or added to casseroles and salads, especially the classic Greek salad. For many, it is the most delicious olive you can eat.
